Our
strategy is to employ our competitive strengths, in order to continue
to enhance our position within the market. We aim to provide the safe
transportation of oil, serve the U.S. energy needs, and maximize shareholder
value.
Focused
Acquisitions
By focusing on the mid-size tanker market we have made a conscious effort
to be a consolidator within the tanker industry. A number of our vessels
have one or two substantially identical "sister ships" in our fleet which
can often be used interchangeably. Through having a focused fleet of vessels,
we have greater flexibility to deal with a variety of charterers thus
lowering our dependency on any one in particular. The size of our fleet
also provides us scheduling flexibility and greater economies of scale.
Expanding
Presence
Ships within the Atlantic basin primarily serve the U.S. oil market, which
is governed by strict environmental regulations. Our fleet of high quality
vessels with their excellent safety record, makes them ideally suited
to trade within the Atlantic basin, and will help our expansion into this
region. With the addition of the 19 vessels from Metrostar Management
we will also be able to have an expanded presence in the black sea and
Russia where these vessels had been previously trading.
Customer
Relationships
Our reputation for quality and service has enabled us to develop relationships
with many oil companies. We believe our strong relationships stem from
our reputation for dependability and for delivering high quality oil transportation
services We intend to use our reputation to strengthen relationships with
existing clients and establish relationships with new ones. We seek to
be the first choice of the major oil companies for oil transportation.
Commitment
to Safety
At General Maritime Corporation we are committed to providing high quality
service. Our fleet has an excellent safety record. We intend to maintain
our high level of quality and safety by, inspecting our ships frequently
and by continuing to maintain them in excellent condition.
